Gazetteer 04
Four towns recur across our two-day journeys. Each entry lists the era you walk through, the distance on foot, and the resident operator leading the group of sixteen. See which route stops where.
01

Fortress city, 12th to 17th century
The old town sits inside a river loop, so the morning walk climbs from the canyon floor past the Armenian well to the market square.
02
University quarter, 1860s to 1930s
A compact ring of courtyards and tiled roofs, walked in one unhurried morning with a short stop at the former residence.
03
Hetman capital, 17th century
Low hills and wide river views frame the former capital, with the fortress hill reached by a gentle path from the square.
04
Border town, 17th to 20th century
The route follows the river embankment, the cathedral hill and the long lime avenue, then returns along the old market street.
